Fact Sheet on IGT EZ Pay(TM) Systems and EZ Play(TM) Machines
LAS VEGAS, June 19 -- In response to the IGT/Park Place
Entertainment news release issued this morning, International Game Technology
(NYSE: IGT) provided the following additional information as background on its
proprietary EZ Pay(TM) system and EZ Play(TM) ticket-in/ticket-out gaming
machines.
- IGT's EZ Play(TM) ticket-in/ticket-out systems are currently in
operation in 38 properties and 12 jurisdictions throughout the world.
- Those jurisdictions include Nevada, Mississippi, California, Iowa,
Louisiana, cruise ships, Connecticut, Arizona, Minnesota, New Mexico
Native American, Germany and Korea.
- The EZ Pay(TM) System and EZ Play(TM) machines have received formal
approval in 11 of the 12 jurisdictions and are pending final approval
in Louisiana. The system and machines have been or will be submitted
for approval in nine other jurisdictions including New Jersey.
- In addition, IGT has ticket-in ticket-out (EZ Play(TM)) machines
operating in six casinos with other suppliers' systems.
- In total, as of May 31, 2001, IGT has shipped more than 20,000 EZ
Play(TM) machines.
- EZ Play(TM) machines combine ticket printers with traditional hopper
pays. Operators can program the machine to pay a portion of the
payout in coins and the balance in the form of a ticket. The ticket
can be reinserted in other EZ Play(TM) machines; exchanged for cash at
a cashier's station; cashed by attendants on the casino floor using
wireless validation units; or held by the player for use at a later
time. The system can also be programmed to pay out tickets only,
using the hopper as a backup.
- The EZ Pay(TM) system also allows operators to utilize IGT's new EZ
Play Multi-Denomination(TM) games, so players may select the game
denomination -- from one cent up to $25 -- on a single machine.
Players can still insert bills or coins to start playing and can
change their wager without the bother of collecting and converting
coins when they cash out.
