About Us

IGT History

IGT has been an industry leader in the supply of gaming machines and systems to land-based casinos since 1981.

IGT’s experience in the online and mobile gaming arena stretches back over a decade and cover all verticals and distribution channels of interactive gaming.

IGT acquired Wagerworks in 2005 for their online gaming platform and games. Based in San Francisco Wagerworks had gained a reputation for the development of high quality casino table and slot games, and the merger into the larger IGT group offered great synergies which are still taken advantage of today. Wagerworks were famous for producing slot games based around blockbuster brands like MONOPOLY®.

In 2008 IGT purchased the mobile gaming company Million-2-1, based in Manchester, UK. The purchase allowed IGT to break into the rapidly growing mobile gaming market with the use of Million-2-1’s proprietary software. This software is used today to power IGT’s casino games with operators across Europe.

In November 2010, IGT consolidated all interactive gaming strands into one division, IGT Interactive. With HQ in San Francisco and offices in Nevada, England, Gibraltar and China the group accelerated the online and mobile development of IGT classic slot games and introduced more blockbuster brands into the rapidly expanding interactive gaming market. At the end of 2010 the dedicated employees in IGT Interactive division was over 200.

As the speed of growth at IGT Interactive continued in 2011 another acquisition was made. The Swedish gaming technology group Entraction AB was acquired for $115m, with the transaction completed in July 2011. IGT Interactive had previously focused on the casino vertical, but this transaction completed the gaming verticals set with the purchase of proprietary platform, online poker and sports betting alongside third party integrations into the platform of Bingo and Live Casino.

Also in 2011 IGT Interactive generated its first dollar of revenue in North America. The launch of IGT slot games on the BCLC website www.playnow.com was a resounding success with core titles such as Cleopatra amongst player favorites.

As we look forward, IGT will continue to extend our reach into the gaming world. This includes propelling into innovative arenas such as social gaming, and anywhere that we might meet and exceed the opportunity to provide enhanced player experiences.
